There are so many great recipes out there which call for chicken stock. But, with our busy schedules, few have the time to make it from scratch. So we usually opt for the canned chicken stock or those little chicken bullion cubes. The canned can be expensive and both the canned and cubes can have a ton of sodium...upwards of 1300 mg/serving in some cases!
There is a great alternative out there. Watkins Chicken Soup and Gravy Base. This base can be used for soups, sauces, gravies, dips, and much more.
It is very economical. One jar makes 57 cups of stock...the equivalent of 14 boxes of Swansons. And it is 1/3 the cost of Swansons.
It is so convenient. Just mix 1 1/2 tsp to one cup of boiling water for a cup of broth. And it stores right on the shelf ready for you to use any time.
The taste is fabulous! I have used this in several dishes that call for chicken stock and have liked it's taste much more than bullion (too salty) or canned/carton stock (too bland).
And Watkins Chicken Soup and Gravy Base has 1/3 of the sodium of many brands.
